Step Stools
One of our 2019 skill-builders in Woodwork 9/10 is a step stool – this project incorporates skills including angled table saw cuts, drill press and bandsaw shaping, jigsaw slot-cutting, and dowel-cutting. Students choose their wood species, and they all turned out beautifully! Awesome work, everyone.
Knife-making
In Spring 2019, two of our Jewelry/Metalwork 12 students decided to do a self-directed knife-making project. They turned out beautifully! Excellent work N.M. and L.M-J., and best of luck on your next chapters!
Cedar bench
This beauty was created as a self-directed project by E.A. and J.L.L. in Trades 10! Crafted out of cedar, this bench is heading out to the Cumberland forest, on a mountain bike trail being built by E.A. himself. Excellent work, and can’t wait to see it on future rides!
Belt Buckles
Our amazing Spring 2019 Senior Jewelry students created these belt buckles. This project incorporates metalwork skills including lathe work, MIG welding, and riveting. Awesome work, folks!
Wine Rack
An incredible self-directed project created by C.C. in Grade 11! Built from alder and all wood-burning done by hand. Excellent work, C.C.!
Copper Enamelling!
In Spring 2019, a few students decided to try their hand at creating some copper enamelling pieces, with some incredible results! Earrings hand cut, domed, and enamelled by C.H. and V.P. in Grade 11. Belt buckle (first attempt at enamelling this project!) done by V.P.
Skateboard decks
This year was our first attempt at deck-building in the Highland Wood shop! E.M., M.T., and A.J. designed, pressed, shaped, sanded, and finished their own custom-built decks after some learning curves, and they turned out great. Painting done by A.J. on her longboard deck. Awesome work, everyone!
Ornate ring
WOW! V.P. in Grade 11 tried her hand at this intermediate ring project, and it turned out beautifully. Advanced skills included wire wrapping, multiple complex solders, and shaping.
Boxes
Our Grade 11 students complete a “Beverage Holder”/multi-purpose box as a skill-builder, and use every machine in the shop to create them. Excellent work featured here by A.P. and M.B.!
