Grade 12 student C.B. designed this amazing table – he welded the base in our Jewelry/Metalwork class, and C.F. and W.G. in Senior Woodwork helped him out with the gorgeous cherry tabletop. Excellent work!
Professional Jeweller Cheryl Jacobs came to our Jewelry 9/10 classes in December and shared some new skills with us! Students learned how to use diamond bits to drill through beach stones and glass, and created a piece that incorporated rivets, wire accents, etc. All beach stones collected from Denman Island (ocean-polished!). Thanks, Cheryl, and hope to see you next year!
WOW! Most of the work featured here was the first time students ever used a jeweller’s saw! Students choose an image, transfer it to metal, and cut it all out by hand. Some students, including K.M. in Grade 10 (the amazing orca) chose to try their hand at sweat-soldering two pieces together. Incredible work, everyone!
