Steel-Tempered Engraving

B.M. in Grade 10 loved our Steel Tempered Pendant and decided to create a nameplate for her family’s business. This turned out so great!

Wire wrap projects

Once Jewelry/Metalwork 9/10 students complete all of their skill-builder projects, they have the opportunity to come up with their own ideas. Wire wrapping is a deceptively challenging jewelry-making technique that these students totally nailed! Way to go :).

Epic frog buddy!

R.G. in Grade 11 cut and shaped this little brass frog – and went a few steps further with those delicate inside cuts. So stunning!

Creative Projects 2022-23

The Creative Project combines everything we learn in our first unit of Jewelry/Metalwork 11/12: cutting with a jeweller’s saw, soldering two or more metals together, and sanding/buffing/texturing/finishing metal. Each of these projects is uniquely designed by students, and all are cut entirely by hand. Extra congrats to R.H. for that super tricky guitar – she worked SO dang hard on getting those wires soldered. Awesome work, everyone!

Pewter Castings 2022-23

Holy smokes! This year’s Jewelry/Metalwork 9/10 crew was NOT messing around! Students worked hard to carve their own unique design, then cast the plaster with molten pewter. Folks also have the option to use epoxy resin in their casting if they choose – check out that Eye of Sauron or the hammerhead shark for resin examples. Great work everyone!

Jewellers Saw Projects

From Rick Astley to MF Doom to Kenny, the 2022-23 Jewelry 9/10 students KILLED it on their first jewellers saw projects. We even had one student cut out the exact markings on her horse’s nose as a wearable pendant in sterling silver. Thank you for all of your creativity, folks!

Jewellers Saw Cuts – Next Level!

This SUPER intricate piece made by M.B. was a labor of love, and all cut by hand. She succeeded in making this sheet of copper look like lace, and totally killed it! Excellent work.

Stone-set ring

F.M. in Grade 12 worked SO hard to create this incredible and complex sterling silver ring set with a Tiger’s Eye stone. What an amazing achievement! All the best on your welding program out east, and beautiful work on this project.
