Stunning work by J.M. – this was a small practise for her BIG project (see next post).

Awesome work by T.V. & K.G.! That Biggie woodburn? Done completely by hand! And K.G. put her amazing art skills to work on her custom longboard. We also learned the hard way that you CAN vacuum press a board in the apocalypse/when all the power goes out at the worst time :).

These awesome cutting boards were designed and built by our Fall 2020 Woodwork 10 students. Wood types and dimensions were chosen by students, and these came together beautifully. Great work, everyone!

D.G. in Jewelry 11 went beyond his “eclipse” sweat-solder practise project and created these gorgeous earrings as a gift for his mom. Nickel silver and brass were used, as well as a sheet metal punch to get those perfect circles. Metals were sweat-soldered together, and his finishing touch was stamping a mountain design into both earrings. Beautiful work!

…does whatever a spider-bench does!
This year’s Introduction to Trades students are doing a Bench Challenge, where they must design and build a bench that both of them (or 3 of them) can sit on, with limited 2×4 lumber and all basic carpentry tools and machines used. T.C. and L.R. in Grade 9 went above and beyond, and even had time to paint their project. Great work!

Senior students K.C. and D.G. created these self-directed ring projects. K.C. annealed, twisted, and forged the silver band ring and cut out the “V” ring with a jewellers’ saw. D.G. took on a challenge with this brass “ball ring”, where spheres were created by purposefully melting small pieces of brass wire, then soldering them onto a band. Excellent work!
