These students went above and beyond their set projects and challenged themselves to try new skills. Both sets of earrings were hand-cut with a jewellers’ saw (studs soldered onto the back). Beach stone pendants were chosen by students, and they designed their prong backing to hold the stone.

Gorgeous castings done by students in Fall 2019 – these were cast with a Centrifuge out of silver, and hand finished and polished.
This project was lovingly hand-carved and shaped by A.K., a top student in Jewelry 10 in Fall 2019! Cast out of sterling silver, this project featured geometric angles created with a file and sandpaper, as well as a carved centre detail. Excellent work, A.K.!
K.G. in Grade 11 went above and beyond set projects in 2019 and created these gorgeous wire-work silver earrings. All shaping and soldering was done by hand, and they turned out beautifully. Excellent work!
Students in both Junior and Senior Jewelry get to try their hand at ring-making, and create progressively more challenging projects. These students decided to try their hand at a ‘braided’ and intro to ‘filigree’ ring, where they up-cycled old electrical wire and annealed with a torch as they shaped it. New students to Jewelry/Metalwork get to try their hand at using a jewellers’ saw (the bread and butter of most jewellers and fine metalsmiths!). Students choose their own design and cut all shapes out by hand. Incredible work!

Students choose a design, plan their layout, and choose a minimum of 2 different metals to use. All cutting is done by hand with a jewellers’ saw, and all sanding and finishing is done by hand as well. Great work!
Our amazing Spring 2019 Senior Jewelry students created these belt buckles. This project incorporates metalwork skills including lathe work, MIG welding, and riveting. Awesome work, folks!
In Spring 2019, a few students decided to try their hand at creating some copper enamelling pieces, with some incredible results! Earrings hand cut, domed, and enamelled by C.H. and V.P. in Grade 11. Belt buckle (first attempt at enamelling this project!) done by V.P.
WOW! V.P. in Grade 11 tried her hand at this intermediate ring project, and it turned out beautifully. Advanced skills included wire wrapping, multiple complex solders, and shaping.
